Downtown Livermore Is Building Its November Around the Quiet Hours

October 29, 2026

Zephyr Grill & Bar opened on First Street in 2004. Its run is scheduled to end Oct. 31. About ten weeks before that closing was announced, a Livermore resident launched a membership club whose drinks can't be redeemed on Friday or Saturday nights. Those two facts explain most of what downtown has scheduled for November. The new programming is going into Wednesday evening, Sunday morning and Saturday at 7 a.m.

A 22-year anchor closes on a shortened week

Livermore Vine reported on Oct. 8 that owners Lynn and Randy Tei would close Zephyr at 1736 First St. after an attempt to sell the business without its brand name "did not come together." A small fire in the prep area in July 2025 led to a months-long closure, and the restaurant reopened in November 2025.

Zephyr's final hours show how its week had shrunk. Through Oct. 31, it was set to open 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday. That is five days, and two of them are dinner only. The Teis' Zephyr in Brentwood and Smith's Landing Seafood Grill in Antioch remain open. No replacement has been announced for the First Street space.

The drink club that only works when downtown is slow

Downtown Pour Collective launched in August, founded by Nick Martinez, who worked about 20 years in restaurant operations for national brands before creating it and moved to Livermore about two years ago. Livermore Vine's launch coverage says the club arrived as costs were rising and local owners kept asking how to bring in more customers during off-peak hours. Martinez put the goal this way in the statement that announced the launch, as quoted by Livermore Vine:

"Downtown Livermore already has the venues and the people. What it didn't have was a reason to make showing up a habit."

The rules are built around habit. Every tier includes five pours a month. Members can redeem them any time Sunday through Thursday, or before 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The weekend dinner rush is excluded, so a membership only pays off on a downtown that would otherwise be quiet.

The collective's site lists three tiers:

  • Tap: $59 a month, or $590 prepaid for a year
  • Cellar: $69 a month, or $690 prepaid for a year
  • Reserve: $79 a month, or $790 prepaid for a year

On every tier, the annual price equals ten monthly payments. That also works out to roughly $12 to $16 per pour, if all five get used each month.

The eight launch partners are Demitri's Taverna, Swirl on the Square, The Cheese Parlor, Calamari Bistro & Bar, Stampede Bar & Grill, Bruno's Italian Cuisine, L Campo and Wingen Bakery & Restaurant. Members can also collect 36 coasters at partner venues over a year and assemble them into a piece of art showing the city. Picking up three coasters a month takes repeat visits across the year.

The partners joined for reasons that match the design. Swirl on the Square owner Michelle Braatz told Livermore Vine that "being on the outskirt of the downtown, this should get eyeballs on my restaurant." The Cheese Parlor co-owner Brandon Wood told the outlet, "We all rise together." Martinez said he started with bar sales, where margins are highest, and plans to expand into dining and eventually into Pleasanton.

A November week, by the clock

The rest of downtown's November calendar follows the same pattern. Here is what is scheduled, organized by the part of the week it fills.

  1. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The year-round Sunday Farmers Market sets up on Second Street between South L and South J on Nov. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. All of those Sundays fall inside the collective's redemption window, too.
  2. Wednesday, 7 to 10 p.m. Stampede, at 1790 First St., hosts Family Line Dance Lesson Night every Wednesday in November: Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 25.
  3. Wednesday through Friday at the Bankhead. The theater's November listings include Fenestra & Page Mill on Wednesday, Nov. 18, Nat Geo Live: The Ghosts of Pompeii at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, and a jazz show Friday, Nov. 20.
  4. Friday, 8 to 11 p.m. Stampede adds Line Dance Lessons & Live Band on Nov. 6, 13, 20 and 27.
  5. Saturday, 7 to 10 a.m., once. Earlier Than the Bird returns Nov. 21.

Most of that list lands on a morning or a weeknight. The Friday items start at 8 p.m. or later.

Wednesday, Nov. 18 has three options at once

The clearest example is a single Wednesday. On Nov. 18, Downtown Pour Collective holds its next Social Pour from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wood Family Vineyards. It's free for members, their guests and partner venues, with RSVP invitations sent by email. That same evening, Fenestra & Page Mill is on the Bankhead's calendar, and Stampede's family line dance night runs 7 to 10 p.m.

Three organizers chose the same mid-month Wednesday. The Social Pour starting at 5 p.m. leaves time to head back downtown for a show or the dance floor. A member who arrives at a partner bar afterward is still inside the redemption window, because Wednesday counts all day.

Saturday, Nov. 21 starts at 7 a.m.

Livermore Downtown Inc. schedules its other big November event before most shops' usual hours. Earlier Than the Bird runs 7 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, centered on Livermorium Plaza. The event invites shoppers in pajamas, advertises store deals and giveaways, and collects gifts for teens through Tri-Valley Haven.

The event wraps at 10 a.m., a three-hour block at the start of a Saturday. For the collective, a Saturday before 4 p.m. also counts as eligible.

Saturday afternoon has a wine-country option a short drive out. Pruett Estate Winery holds a free Fall Release Party on Saturday, Nov. 14, from noon to 5 p.m. at 5385 East Avenue. It features two releases, including a barrel-aged 2023 Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon.

The newer openings cover both ends of the day

The two most recent downtown arrivals sit at opposite ends of the clock.

Dumont Creamery & Café held its grand opening Sept. 18 at 2375 Railroad Ave., Suite 101. It's the franchise's first East Bay location, serving internationally inspired ice cream, coffee, boba, slushies and milkshakes. Its flavors include an Italian mint basil sorbet, New Zealand's Hokey Pokey and a Belgian Biscoff. Co-owner Ajay Vattipally told Livermore Vine the goal is a space "which has something for everybody." Its menu of desserts, coffee and boba runs toward the afternoon end of the day.

Le Nocturne, another recent addition, covers the late end. It's a French-style supper club at 2470 First St., #100, next to the Bankhead, in the space that was formerly The Last Word and briefly Syndicate. Diablo Magazine reported that owner Gianni Schell, who also runs Rebel Kitchen & Libations, serves dishes such as steak frites, coq au vin and trout amandine. On Friday and Saturday nights at 10 p.m., the room switches to deep house and EDM until 1 a.m. The Bankhead's Nov. 19 and Nov. 20 shows put an audience right next door on two of those nights.

What is already scheduled past November

A few more changes are already dated. Traditions Meat Co., a butcher shop planned for 2558 Old First St., was slated in July to open in spring 2027. The Planning Commission approved a 7 Brew Coffee drive-through at the Lowe's-anchored center at First Street and North Mines Road, with two lanes and a walk-up window, but no opening date has been reported.

December's big dates land on a weekend. The Holiday Sights & Sounds Parade starts on First Street at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, followed by the tree lighting. Participating businesses for the Holiday Open House hadn't been listed yet. That same weekend, Holidays in the Vineyards runs Dec. 5 and 6 from noon to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free, though wineries may charge tasting fees, and there's a Toys for Tots drive.

When a First Street storefront goes quiet, its value depends on which hours the block around it can fill. If you own downtown commercial space or are looking at a storefront as Livermore's tenant mix shifts, Adroit Real Estate can walk you through what this calendar means for occupancy, lease terms and pricing.
